Our team is proud to have achieved several key milestones over the past 12 months. Here, we are providing you with an overview of our successful projects and initiatives.
The year 2022 began with the formation of the openEO platform Forum, which enables the openEO community to communicate and provides users with the opportunity to test the platform features through a 30-day trial. To further involve users in the platform’s development, 10 early career EO scientists were selected to receive research grants for their EO research projects, which were presented at the Living Planet Symposium in Bonn in May. Additionally, work has been ongoing on the European Continental Crop Map, which demonstrates the platform’s continental scalability.
The second half of the year was dedicated to the integration of the Sentinel Hub backend and the refactoring of the EODC Pangeo compliant backend. Meanwhile, some key users developed their Early Adopter research into mature large-scale use cases. During the summer we included new funding options and advanced collections into the platform portfolio. In October, the entire openEO Platform team convened in Belgium for the fourth openEO Platform Service Readiness Review. While there, the openEO Platform Board was formed to ensure the continuation of the service after the ESA-funded project period ends.
